He screamed to the top of his voice in middle of one of the most crowded flea market of Delhi. It was hot, sunny & quite a sweaty evening of July and the market was brimming with a bunch of middle class conservative Indians.  A place which was always swarming like a beehive was brought to a complete halt probably for the first time. Nobody had time otherwise.
All the eyes turned towards the source of that trouble-making sound. Within seconds they all were looking towards the short  guy who had silverish-white hair around his bald patch which were shining extra-ordinarily against the backdrop of his otherwise dark skin. His white mercerized cotton vest was peeping through his old unwashed golden embroidered shirt which had fewer buttons than holes. The torn & dusty sandals perfectly matched his high-waisted double pleated black trousers which looked like it was tasked to measure the circumference of fattest part of his tummy. “Now that I have got your attention”, he continued with a smile, “smile often”, he said. People were dumbstruck for a moment. It just took them another moment before they declared him mad and continued with their work.

This small story was inspired by the news that was  released today about the happiness index of the world, I din’t like what India’s result was (we ranked 118th!). Click here to read the news.
